Beary Cute

I've had the "Polar Love" stamp set by MFT for awhile now. Do you have this problem - too many stamps, too little time? I buy new stamps with all the best intentions of using them and before I get into my room there's a whole new batch screaming at me to take them home too.

My Favorite Things is one of the companies that keeps coming out with "gotta have" stamps. There are several in my collection that remain uninked, but I'm working on using them, but like I said before, there's just not enough time. I'm not a fast card maker, once in awhile I'll get into a space where the cards just keep coming but other times, like lately, I have to really work at it. I usually like what I come up with, it's just that it hasn't been coming easily.

Thanks to the many companies and individuals posting challenges I have lots of places to go to for a nudge. Some days I can't even get a push from the those. This week I've been taking images that I like and haven't used and playing with them. I've colored and pieced a couple images without an end in mind.

I colored and pieced Polar Love thinking about a "masculine" Valentine's card. I know if you follow me you're thinking that I already made a card for my hubbie, that cute little voodoo card, well, I can give that to my daughter just as easily. The voodoo card is a little pinkish (not that my daughter is a pink kind of gal) so I wanted to try to fix something in more mannish colors, you know, brown. LOL, it seems whenever I see masculine cards they're always brown. I have no idea why, but who am I to fight the trend.

For this card I stamped the image on an MFT white Perfect Panel in Memento Tuxedo Black and pieced the scarves with "Bountiful" dp by Creative Memories. I colored the heart, ears, noses and edges of the bears with Copics and then covered them with Flower Soft. The ovals were cut with Creative Memories cutting system. The edge of the white oval was sponged with Ranger Scattered Straw and Tattered Rose, the mat is DCWV card stock with a distressed edge.

The ribbon is from MFT. It's like suede and is thick and has a unique feel to it, definitely a good choice for a man. The hearts were punched with Spellbinder's Nestibilities and mounted on dimensionals.

I had a little strip of the dp with a punched card stock edge for the inside but when I went to affix it I didn't care for it because the card base is white and the paper are beige toned so I decided to cover the inside sentiment page with the dp too. Then I added the strip at the bottom. Now it was too dark for a sentiment so I added a box, punched the corners, brushed the edges with the scattered straw and stamped a sentiment. A few days ago I was checking out Leanne's Wee Inklings blog and saw that she stamped an image over her sentiment and I liked it so much I copied it. Hey, Leanne, I told you I was going to do it. Leanne's one of the DT on the Color Throwdown so you've probably seen her work before but if you haven't click here and you'll whisked off to her blog.

The layout is from the Corrosive Challenge #50 sketch challenge. I turned it on it's side to accommodate the bears and put the rest of the elements together to fit the sketch. I've been in a ripping mood, so most of the edges on the card have been distressed and sponged, and pounced. You can really take it on your card, they're a lot tougher than I would have suspected.

I've pretty much covered the details of the card front. Here's the rest of the deets for the inside. The sentiment is from the "Polar Love" set. The over stamped heart is from MFT "Boho Blossoms" and is stamped in Ranger Tattered Rose. The scalloped corners on the square were made with a Creative Memories punch. The heart border is from Martha Stewart.

Now onto the list of challenges this card is for - again with Valentines Day nearing rapidly there is a motherload of challenges with hearts and love as the theme:
The OCC (Our Creative Corner) - A Masculine Card - I knew that masculine thing was somewhere out there

Crazy 4 Challenges #23- Be My Valentine
Pile It On Challenge 5 - To the One I Love (for Pile it One the theme is to combine their challenge with at least one other challenge)
The Pink Elephant Challenge #53 - Mushy, Gushy Valentine (this is about as gushy as I get)
Tuesday Taggers - Love is All Around
Simon Says - Love
Charisma Cardz Week 6 Challenge - Think Male

I don't imagine I'm going to be so lucky with combining challenges once Valentine's Day has past.

Thank you for visiting. I love to read your comments, they are the shining bright spot of my day. Before you leave please click on the pink ribbon.
