What's Hot?

What's hot? The theme for the June Guest Designer Challenge for My Favorite Things is "Some Like It Hot". For me whatever is hot in paper crafting can be found at My Favorite Things . Whatever the latest trends are the design team is up on them and you can find the latest products for sale at the MFT website.

For my card I've picked cork, an "Alice" stamp and I used die-namics on the cork and the dp between the cork layers.

Here's the rest of the deets:
Stamp - My Favorite Things "Costumes in Wonderland"

Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Tea Dye and Antique Linen

Paper - dp October Afternoon Thrift shop; MFT Perfect Panel; odd pieces of card stock

Miscellaneous - copics; lace; Nestibilities; MFT hot fix pearls; Hero Arts Orange Gemstone (o the bow where the charm is attached); MFT die-namics; heart charm; linen thread

I used a Sketch for You To Try from Jen Del Muro's I {Heart} to Stamp.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you'll come back again.

Half a Million !!!!!!

That's half a million hits on a blog, Joanne's blog "Just a Little Something" that is. Joanne is celebrating getting 500,000 hits on blog. That is a big deal, I've only got 28,000+ hits on mine and about 25,000 of them were made by me. To celebrate Joanne is having a challenge, a sketch plus 3 challenge. I like when Joanne celebrates cause she gives away a prize (by the way, last time she celebrated I was the winner of a really great big pile of stamping heaven). To celebrate her big deal event I'm playing along with her challenge, who knows lightning can hit twice, maybe I'll win again, and even if I don't it's fun to play.
If you don't know Joanne, she's on the design teams for two of my favorite stamp companies so I visit her blog all the time, and she's such a fabulous stamper I'd visit anyway. Those companies are My Favorite Things and The Cat's Pajamas. If you've scrolled through my posts you've probably noticed that the majority of my cards are made with stamps from these two companies so how can I pass up this challenge. Her prize for this challenge is a gift certificate for each of these stores.
So are you ready for the deets?
Stamp - My Favorite Things "Costumes from Wonderland" (which I won at last month's MFT release party - thank you very much Kim)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Antique Linen
Paper - Stampin' Up Kraft and Certainly Celery cs; MFT Bubblegum cs; white MFT Perfect Panel for the stamped image; Martha Stewart Playful Pink Paper dp
Miscellaneous - Heidi Swapp bling; Joy! Crafts pearls; Cuttlebug Embossing folder; Martha Stewart Floral Lace border punch; Stampin' Up border punch; Nestibilities; white gel pen; Doodlebug button; The Cat's Pajamas linen thread; charm; ribbon; Sulky thread
Here's the challenges:
Joanne's Just a Little Something - Sketch plus three (gingham paper; bling, stitching; kraft)
Simon Says - Pink (or blue) with green and brown
Quixotic Challenge #27 - Emboss It
Paper Sundaes 19th Challenge -Share your favorite book, poem or fairy tale (Alice in Wonderland, an all time favorite book)
The Shabby Tea Room, Week 11, Polka Dot Tea Party - I used my gel pen to put polka dots on the skirt, and the tea party theme is central to my card
Paper Cutz #42 - use buttons plus ribbon, lace or hemp
Pile it On #20 - Out of the Box - whatever that means - I don't know what that means either but for this card it means that it's so much better than a card you'll find in a boxed set.
ABC Challenge - V is for Vintage
Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoyed yourself, come back again real soon and most importantly, click the pink ribbon before you leave, it's a good thing.

Happy Birthday Alma!

It's Alma'a birthday! Happy Birthday, I wish you the best of everything. For those of you who don't know who Alma is (if you're reading this you probably do know but just in case) you need to go visit The Cat's Pajama. Alma is the head kitty and beloved to those of us addicted to Sprinkles the cat, the Vespa driving bunny, these lovable penguins (I think they're really diabolical, yet still lovable, like the ones in the movie Madagascar) PJ the bear and a doggie (does he have a name?). I love them all and try to participate in the weekly challenge. When I saw this week's challenge to "get wood" I knew exactly what I was going to use. I've had these little wooden discs for ages. I just wasn't sure which letters I had left or how may would fit comfortably on a card front. Do you think "tequila" works? I'll let Alma decide.
The penquins are from the "Hola! Tequila!" stamp set. There are several other images and sentiments in the set. I used the two of the smaller stamps to make my own dp, which makes it work perfectly. I happened to have a cactus charm in my stash but if I didn't I would have made a nice little charm with this stamp.
So here's the deets:
Stamps - the Cat's Pajamas "Hola! Tequila!"
Ink - Brilliance Graphite Black; Close To My Heart Ocean, Olive and Desert Sand
Paper -Stampin' Up cs Bermuda Bay and Green Galore
Miscellaneous - Cat's Pajamas linen twine; May's ribbon; cactus charm; wood letter discs (wish I knew who made them - they are old); MFT spring collection button; stickles; copics, Creative Memories cutting system
Here's the challenges:
The Cat's Pajamas - TCPTUES111 get wood
The Pink Elephant TPE68 - make orange the focal color (check out that yummy ribbon)
Scrapmaster's Paradise SPCC#49 - Bermuda Bay, Green Galore and Only Orange

Thanks for visiting, if you have a chance go wish Alma a Happy Birthday, and don't forget to click the pink ribbon before you leave, it's good karma.

Angry Ballerina

Maybe someone else got the lead in the ballet, otherwise I can't imagine why she's so upset. By the way, my "n" key is still sticking so I'm probably going to make this a short post, cause that sticky "n" is what's making me angry, but I digress...
I betcha her foot is tapping fast and hard. Personally, I can't believe she's unhappy about her costume, unless she's a Vegan, member of PETA, doesn't like pink (who doesn't like pink) could be dietary but I don't think the costume's the reason, it's too dang cute.
Well whatever the reason this is "Angry Ballerina" by Kraftin' Kimmie. I've been itchin' to get her inky. Not sure this was the card I had in mind but it'll do for now. It's a little bit busy, it's following the sketch on "Oh, Alice". I like all of the embellishments on the card but I think that maybe there's too many of them for one card.
I spent a lot of time dirtying this card with Ranger inks but it doesn't show that well.
Here's the deets:
stamp - Kraftin' Kimmie "Angry Ballerina"
ink - Brilliance Graphite; Ranger Antique Linen; Ranger Tea Dye; Ranger Tattered Rose
paper - dp Basic Grey Two Scoops
Miscellaneous - Hero Arts Sparkle Gems; Hero Arts Pearls; Recollections Pearls Stickers; Prima Flowers; brad; glitter dust; glaze pen; copics; ribbon; button; linen twine; charm; sulky thread
Oh Alice - sketch
Crafty Ho's - photo inspiration (pink cowboy hat)
Paper Cutz Challenge #42 - use buttons plus ribbon, lace or hemp
Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC30 - pale yellow, light green and pink
Kraftin' Kimmie #30 - How Charming
Stamp and Create Challenge #1 - Ribbon
Thanks for visiting, I hope you'll come back again, and if you have an idea of how to treat a sticking key leave me a comment. Don't forget to click on the pink ribbon before you leave.

A Watercoloring Challenge

My "N" key is sticking. It's very frustrating to have to keep going back to retype that letter. Why couldn't it be the "Q" or "Z" that got stuck. Well at least it's not the "E".
So I've been keeping my posts short because I keep losing my train of thought what with all the retyping.
This card is for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge to watercolor. It's kind of funny, not haha funny, odd funny because the first couple times I made cards with MFT stamps I water colored them. I hadn't started using copics or paper piecing till after I used the stamps for awhile. I found the MFT gallery on Splitcoast and a whole new world opened up to me. I starting studying the cards posted there and entering the challenges. That is what eventually led me here. So this challenge is bringing me back to my roots so to speak.
I dug out my watercolors and made made this card. I used Stampin' Up watercolor crayons for a base and the finished it off with Pearlescent Watercolors. I think this card looks much better in person than it does here.
Because this keyboard is driving me crazy I'm going to go to the deets:
stamp - MFT "Fairy Sweet Jolinne"
ink - Stazon Black; Ranger Tattered Rose
paper - all paper My Mind's Eye
miscellaneous - Stampin' Up watercolors; Pearlescent watercolors; MFT green ribbon; mauve ribbon; glaze pen and glitter dust for the wings; Recollections Pearl stickers
Here's the challenges:
MFT Wednesday Stamp Club - watercoloring
Playdate Cafe PDCC30 - pale yellow, light green and pink
Stamp Something - 2 of Something (2 ribbons); 2 dp's (the mats are the reverse sides of the dp)
The Pink Elephant TPE67 - the sketch
Raise the Bar Challenge 18- It's All About the Bag create a card based on a favorite bag - I love bags, I had to wear uniforms when I was in school so I fell for bags back then and it's been a life long love. This card is based on two of my favs, one is a pink plaid Burberry knockoff and the other one is a lavender Coach.
Thanks for visiting, please come back again. Don't forget to click on the pink ribbon before you leave, it's good karma.

PS - Do you have any idea how many N's are in this post!

A Wedding Card

This card's for this week's Crafty Ho challenge. I've been tossing around a few ideas of which stamps to use in the four squares. I've also been thinking about a card I want to make for a shoebox swap that coincidentally two of the crafty hoes (is there supposed to be a "e" i hoes?) will be going to. That's going to be a lot of fun, I can't wait for it to get here but I've got a ton of work to do for it before then. One of my cards will be something like this but I have to work it out a little more, I don't know if people will be able to use the liquid pearls. So I'll be thinking about that for a bit. In the meantime here's the deets for this card:
Stamps - Hero Arts "Wedding Celebration" Ink - Color Box Silver
Paper - American Crafts
Miscellaneous - ribbon, lace, wedding cake brad, Stampin' Up punches
Here's the challenges:
Crafty Ho - sketch

Do I Smell Cake?

That is so me. I love a piece of cake. Well who doesn't? I'm sure there is someone out there who doesn't like cake but there's probably something seriously wrong with them. Okay, just kidding but can you really trust someone who doesn't like cake? I don't mean someone who doesn't eat cake, I think you can decide to not eat cake for health and diet purposes but that's not the same as not liking cake. Well Poochie here likes cake and he's my kind of dog. The last dog I had liked to eat round carrot slices. Now that's weird, and so was Dexter. He was older when I got him and already set in his ways, eating cake not so much his thing.

Today I wanted to make a card for the Cat's Pajama challenge and this week it's a photo inspiration. Last week my TCP card was Poochie with his beach umbrella so this week I focused on the colors for my inspiration instead. There were a couple challenges that were for easel cards. I haven't made one of these in a long time so I was due for that. There are a couple other challenges but I'll tell you about them in a few.
One of the things I like about the Cat's Pajama stamps, besides they are just so dang cute is that I don't have to do a lot of coloring so I can whip up a card in a short amount of time.
Here's the deets:
Stamp: image and sentiment The Cat's Pajamas "Smells Like Cake"
Ink: Brilliance graphite Black; Ranger Scattered Straw
Paper: dp October Afternoon "Thrift Shop" pad; tan cs Nicole; red cs MFT; cream cs MFT Perfect Panel
Miscellaneous: copics for the cake; red glitzy glitter on the heart; brads; button; SU twill tape; nestibilities; charm; DMC floss

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit, please come back again. Don't forget to click on the pink ribbon before you go. It's good Karma.

Meet Fred

He's Fred. He flies, he graduates, he bears/bares gifts and he's a cutey pie. AND he's good for a boy's card. I don't have many images that I think are masculine so Fred is great addition to my collection of stamps. Doesn't this paper with the little airplanes go perfectly with this stamp.
I couldn't wait to find the I looked through some challenges to see what I else I could if there were any to use. The two that I picked were a sketch and a theme and once I had those two picked out the card went together quickly and easily.
So here's the deets:
Stamp - MFT "Fred Bear In Flight" image and sentiment
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Bundles Sage
Paper - cream MFT Perfect Panel cs; SU Tangerine Tango cs; dp Cosmo Cricket L'il Man (airplanes) and K & Co LIfe's Journey (postcard)

Coffee? Tea?

I prefer tea. When I saw this adorable tea cup charm I had to have it. I love to hang embellishment on my cards and I think that charms look great. The buttoney bow has been a big hit embellishment but I think the charm hanging off the buttoney bow is that much sweeter. This one also has a little Heidi Swapp bling on it. Here's a close up of it.
I made a pile of this card for a MFT swap. I knew I wanted to use a WTG stamp set so I dug through my stamps and picked this one because it's fun and easy to paper piece. I didn't find any sketch challenges so I went with an easy peasy layout. I did have a couple challenges I wanted to play in, a color challenge and an inspiration challenge.
So here's the deets:
Stamp: My Favorite Things "Coffee? Tea?"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger "Bundled Sage"
Paper: Stampin' Up Pink Pirouette dp; MFT Bubblegum cs; SU Certainly Celery cs; Georgia Pacific white cs
Miscellaneous - Heidi Swapp bling; charm, ribbon, Martha Stewart "Doily Lace" border punch; SU corner punch
Here's the challenges:
PIO #19 - Photo inspiration - a photograph from the White House Museum of a bedroom in shades of pink and ivory. I used the colors for my card and it's the kind of room you'd like to sit down in with a nice cup of tea.
City Crafter Week 4 - color challenge Pink with a hint of green
Cute Cards Challenge #112 - Someone Special
Stampin' B #58 - Food or drink
Charisma Cardz Week 19 - Sweet Treats Food or Drink

You Can Never Have Too Many Black

stamp pads, shoes or dresses. How many black stamp pads do you have? If you're married you may heard some form of that question at least once. If you're happily married your spouse has probably learned not to ask too many questions along those lines. Either he/she doesn't care or doesn't want to know or is brilliant and actually understands why you have to have more than one.
I love this little doggie, he is one of the coolest dudes around with his beach umbrella and lemonade. He's a Cat's Pajama critter and if you're familiar with those stamps you know that there's also some frisky penguins in the line (if you're not familiar with them what's holding you back, go check them out). If this were one of the penguins holding that drink I'd be certain it was a hard lemonade but poochie here, he may be a tea totler. Let me know what you think, I'm not too sure.
I need to scoot out of here so I'm gonna go right to the deets:
Stamp - The Cat's Pajamas "By the Sea"
Ink - Brilliance Graphite Black (I finally broke down and picked this one up, you don't want to know how many other black stamp pads I have); Ranger Shabby Shutters
Paper - The Paper Studio "Sketchy Beach Icons"; Banana Split cs from MFT;
Miscellaneous - Water Dew Drops; Sulyn glitter; chipboard (under the glitter); ribbon; SU markers
Here's the challenges:
TCPTUES109 - the sketch (thanks to Leigh O'Brien)
The Color Throwdown #92 - Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Old Olive, Kraft
Tuesday Taggers - Step Outside Your Comfort Zone for me making a round card is outside my comfort zone, I've only made them when challenges call for them
Stampin' B's #58 - make a card with food or drink
If the Shoe Fits FF#34 - Rain or Shine (I like shine)
Charisma Cardz Challenge Week 19 - Sweet Treats include food or drink
The Shabby Tea Room Week 9 - Chipboard (the glittered swirl is a piece of chipboard I covered)
Papertake Weekly - Shiny Sparkly and Special
Paper Cutz Challenge #41 - use the image of a cat or dog
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit and will come back again. Please click on the pink ribbon before you go. It's good karma.

the prototype

The hardest thing about doing any swap is having enough paper, or embellishments to make the number you need. This is my prototype for a swap that calls for six cards. I picked up a pad of Martha Stewart papers as a Mother's Day present for myself so I definitely have enough paper. So at the moment on my crafting desk there are five more Pure Innocence ovals and 5 more card bases. I have the long bar cut and sponged but I don't have enough lace to make 5 more of the same thing, I have another piece of lace I can switch to but I think I want to make a run to the store before I do that. For the sentiment box I didn't have enough of the same brads. There are two with the brads that look like buttons. They are adorable but they are a little darker which bums me, because these brads were amazingly the same shade of lavender. Overall, they will be close enough to use.

This week the challenge on the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club is to customize your embellies to fit your card. This reminds me of my recent shopping trip with my daughter. She tried on a white dress and it looked awful on her and she got upset because she thought she wouldn't be able to get a white wedding dress (she's just 15 and not in the market yet). So I explained to her that there are many shades of white and there will be a white that will look good on her or she could get ivory or be totally different and get a color. Turned out the next white dress she tried on looked great on her. Well cards and people are the same kind of thing. You have to have the right shade or you're wasting your time and money. Sometimes all the shades are right and go together as they do in this card but you want to give them an aged or shabby chic look. This card will look fine if it's done without sponging with white lace. The gingham and lace will have that crisp fresh look but for today I want the shabby chic look so I broke out the Ranger Scattered Straw pad and inked up all the edges and pulled out the beige lace to go with it. Come back again, you'll probably find another card made with the crisp white look - that's the joy of playing with rubber, you can do it over and over and over, different every time and every time it's still a keeper.
I almost forget (actually I did and now I'm editting this in) the sketch is from Oh, Alice a couple weeks ago, isn't it fun!
Here's the deets:
Stamp - image and sentiment MFT Pure Innocence "Make Mine a Double"
Paper - Martha Stewart dp; Stampin' Up cs
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Scattered Straw
Miscellaneous - pink Glitzy Glitter; Heidi Swapp bling; brads; ribbon; wide stapler (it has a name but dang if I could think of it); dimensionals; copics; lace; Janome sewing machine; pink Sulky thread
Here's the challenges:
MFTWSC - Use markers, die inks or tea staining to age or antique any part of your project or use a Die-namics to add a textured effect
Rosie D's Challenge #70 - Sooo Yummy, Cupcakes/fruit/chocolate (an ice cream cone is yummy)
The ABC Challenge - U is for Unused Stash (that big old staple is old as dirt - don't know why I don't use it more often)

L'il Red Wagon #28 - brads

the Papertake Weekly - Shiny, Sparkly and Special

Little Loveosaurus

This is the latest love of my life. "Jack" was just released by My Favorite Things and from the second I saw him in the sneak peeks I was a goner. I can't imagine anybody not loving this image.

For his debut I used the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge sketch. Since Jack is in a dinosaur suit I pulled out an embossing folder that looks like reptile skin and I picked a dp with reptiles of a sort on it. The dp isn't visible when the card is closed but you can see how cute it is in the photo of the inside, you can also see that it's a birthday card when you look inside. I was going to put a white box in the center so that I could write a note but it would cover that great dp, so I punched a couple ovals and put them on the circle halves. Most kids would rather have the picture of the lizardy thing than a mushy note from grams anyway.

I was totally engrossed trying to figure out how to put this card together but loved every minute of it. Since I've never made a card like this before I'm going to say that went outside my comfort zone which is the theme for the Tuesday Taggers challenge. As much as I like the way it came out I don't know if I'll make another one like this again. It's so much easier to make a rectangular or square card if you know what I mean, but it's fun to try something different just for the heck of it.

Here's the deets:
Stamps - image and sentiment My Favorite Things "Little Loveosaurus"
Paper - white cs Georgia Pacific; yellow cs Nicole; olive cs Bazzill; SU "to the Nines" dp; K & Co. "Actopus to Zelephat Iguanus" dp
Ink: Memento tuxedo Black; Ranger Spiced Marmalade
Miscellaneous: Water dew drops; Taylor's Tiny Twinkles (for the eyes); nestibilities; SU oval and scalloped oval punches; ribbon; glitter; copics; glossy accents (on the teeth - doesn't show much in the pic)
Here's the Challenges:
MFT Wednesday Stamp Club - MFTWSC051010 - the sketch
Tuesday Taggers - Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Cute Card Thursday Challenge #111 - Boyz to Men
Simon Says - Birthday Celebrations
Crazy for Challenges C4C36 - What Are Little Boys Made of
Stamp Something - Birthday Somethings
Pile It On #18 - Cute and Cuddly (this fella definitely is cute and cuddly)

We All Scream

We all scream for Pure Innocence. She is the cutest thing. I just love her and so does everyone I talk to about her. I think she's taking over my blog but that's okay by me.
For this card I decided to finally try Jen Del Muro's sketch challenge. I must have looked at her blog I {Heart} to Stamp hundreds of times and for no reason I can think of never tried her sketch. Well this week My Favorite Things is sponsoring her challenge so I just have to play, after all they are my favorite.

How'd'ya like that ice cream charm. Isn't that just adorable and perfect for this stamp. I just had to work that in even if it isn't in the sketch. Another little thing you may not notice is that for her shoes I covered the area with Ranger Glossy Accents to make them look like patent leather and I drew a pair of lacey edged ankle socks on her. She just seemed to need them.

In my ramblings around the internet I found another blog challenge that piqued my interest. When I saw this photograph on the Play Date Cafe I was bowled over, I just love pink and gray, throwing in black and white only makes it that much yummier. It's funny that the writer mentioned how these colors reminded her of when she was a child because whenever I see them I am reminded of the potholders I made in these colors. I did love this combination even back then. I still love this combination.
Here's the deets:
Stamp - My Favorite Things, Pure Innocence - Make Mine a Double
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Tattered Rose sponged on the card stock
Paper - Martha Stewart "Playful Pink Paper Pad" dp; Making Memories "Black and White Embellishments" dp; Bazzill gray cs
Miscellaneous - Prima Flowers; Stampin' Up brads (the ones with the rhinestones). Spare Part brads (the pink one with the flower center); ribbon; silver bells dew drops; gather gingham check ribbon; glamour dust; MFT scallopey scalloped die-namics
Here's the Challenges:
I {Heart} to Stamp A Sketch for You to Try - SFYTT
The Play Date Cafe PDCC28 - color challenge pink, gray, black and white
Pile It On Challenge #18 - Cute and Cuddly
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again. Please click on the pink ribbon before you go, it's good karma.

Say Ahhhh

Poor sick puppy, looks like he's seen better days. I know I can use this as a get well card for any type of illness but I actually know someone who broke their leg and because it hasn't healed properly she needs to have work done it, when she's ready. The key words there are "when she's ready". Doesn't look like she's gong to be ready any time soon. Well, there's always someone getting ill or hurting themselves one way or another so I'll be using this sooner than later and I can always make another one. That's the great thing about stamps you can use them over and over.
This week the hostess with the mostess on the Cat's Pajamas is Susie Q-tip, Susiestampalot, and she's challenged us to use the "You Sick Thing" stamp set and yippee, I just happen to have that set and it just happens to be one of my favorites. So I picked the sketch for the Mojo Monday Challenge and the colors from the Color Throwdown and sat down to work and came up with this card.
So here's the deets:
Stamp: the Cat's Pajamas "You Sick Thing"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Antique Linen sponged on the edges of the white card stock; Close To My Heart Cranberry for the sentiment
Paper: Stampin' Up Tempting Turquoise cs, Kiwi Kiss dp and Murfield dp; MFT red cs; Georgia Pacific white cs
Miscellaneous - Stampin' Up oval and scalloped oval punches; Mowed Grass Dew Drops, turquoise Sulky thread; copic markers
Here's the challenges:
The Cat's Pajamas - TCPTUES108 use "You Stick Thing" stamp set
The Color Throwdown 91 - Rose Red (I thought it was real red, oh well, it's kind of close), Tempting Turquoise and Kiwi Kiss
Thanks for visiting, I hope you'll come back again. Before you go I gotta ask you to click on the pink ribbon, it's a good thing. I keep my eyes open for other pink things and I've seen that the Colonel is offering to make a donation for every bucket of chicken sold. So if you're a fan of Kentucky Fried Chicken you can get your dinner and do a good deed at the same time - just saying...

Still Cramming After All These Years

I thought when I finished school all those many years ago that I'd be done with cramming at the last minute but I was wrong. Now I'm cramming to get cards done and go to on line parties in the same night. So the midnight oil is burning away but I've finished up my gift wrapping the bridal shower present project.

Some of my friends chipped in on a gift card and I was asked to make the card. I thought it was going to be a credit card type gift card but it turned out to be a certificate in a box. I had been planning on making a gift card holder card so I had to shift gears and come up with another idea and this is the results. I actually like this idea better than the original one. I hope my friends aren't put off by the bright colors.

I wrapped the gift card box in white card stock and made a belly band to go around it and then put a coordinating "seal" on the band. The edges of the cardstock on the belly band and the edges of the cardstock on the inside of the card were punched with the same border punch to pull it all together.

In this stamp there's rain pouring down in the background but since I'm not using it as a get well card I changed the rain into little hearts and covered two of them with red glitzy glitter and glossy accents.
Getting the card up on my blog brings home the cramming feeling. It's the typing and writing, reminds me of having to get a paper done. So here it is and all that's left is to list the deets and the challenges.
Here's the deets:
Stamp - MFT Pure Innocence "My Umbrella"
Ink - Tuxedo Memento Black, Ranger Shabby Shutters
Paper - dp Basic Grey "June Bug", yellow cs Colorbok, red cs from MFT , image stamped on MFT white Perfect Panels
Miscellaneous - copic markers, Glitzy Glitter, Ranger Glossy Accents, EK Success Dotted Wave border punch, ribbon, MFT buttons, dimensionals to pop up the image
Just Us Girls 31 - Sketch (there's an extra challenge to make this a scrapbook page but I needed a card tonight)
Paper Sundaes 16th Challenge - Red, Yellow and Green
Thanks for visiting, I hope you'll come back again. Before you leave click on the pink ribbon, it's good karma.

This is going to be a quick post because I already wrote this up and somehow managed to delete what I wrote. Sweet Memories

If you have a little girl chances are you sent her to ballet classes. I'm sure some of you sent your girl to softball, volleyball, gymnastics or even chess classes and I hope they loved it. It's about your kid having fun. That's all I care about but since this stamp is a ballerina it's taking me down the nostalgia trail. When my darling daughter was a little girl I took her to the dance classes the town ran. At the end of the year they had a recital. We were asked to get a pink nightgown for our girls to wear as their costumes. This stamped image so reminds me of this event. The dance number was supposed to be a dream sequence, hence the nightgowns. We were also asked to have them bring a teddy bear or stuff animal. Liddy wanted to bring her stuffed bunny and this stamp set comes with a dancing bunny, all the more to remind me of her first recital. The big night came, hubby and I and my sister-in-law Tako were in the audience anxiously awaiting our little angel and finally her number came and she and all the girls were so darling and THEN, the girls were supposed to hold the animals in their arms like they were dancing with them and twirl in a circle with them and that's when Liddy put the bunny in her mouth and whipped around in a circle and Tako and I were almost on the floor we were laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes and I nearly wet my pants.
So here's the deets:
Stamps - Senitiment and image MFT "Sweet Spring Jolinne"
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Milled Lavender
Paper - dp Basic Grey "Kioshi" paper pad; lavender cs BazzillBasics; pink cs Colorbok

A Mom Card and being a Mom

I recently signed up for a MFT card swap and I also signed up for a shoebox swap. No, we don't swap shoeboxes, we fill shoeboxes with card parts, lots of card parts. For the MFT swap I need 3 sets of 6 cards. Since the shoebox swap is still open I don't know how many cards or parts will be needed, but it'll be twenty something card fronts and twenty something kits. I've been spending an awful lot of time thinking about what I will make for these two events. This card is my first failure. I sort of like the card but not much. I used the Friday Sketchers challenge for my layout and I'm not happy with it through no fault of the Friday Sketchers, I like the sketch, it's my interpretation of it that's lacking. I do like the way the stamped image came out. I spent a lot of time working on the paper piecing and it worked out nicely if I do say so myself, if you could see me I'm patting myself on my back. I also like the dp for the base, it's got cookies and measuring cups and baking stuff on it and it's in great colors. So it's back to the drawing to see if I can come up with a layout that I like using these papers.

As I said earlier I like the sketch, it nice and linear and balanced. The design team over at Friday Sketchers Challenge came up with cards that look great. You should take a look at what they did. I didn't pull off the cross pieces, I wasn't happy with just the pink cs and punched dp so I added those paper flowers. I love the paper flowers on my desk, but once they hit the card I'm not fond of them. I don't have much confidence with flowers and need to work with them more. If you browse through the blog you'll notice that there aren't a lot of flowers here.

What the whole thing boils down to is this , I like it enough to keep and use but not enough to make multiple times.
Here's the deets:
Stamp: My Favorite Things - Lovin' From the Oven
Paper - Paper Studio "Baking", hot pink cs Stampin' Up, light pink cs Colorbok, Stampin' Up "Delicate Dots" dp for the paper piecing
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Antique Linen
Miscellaneous - copic markers for the skin parts, Liquid Pearls, Creative Memories paper flowers, button, TCP linen thread, Martha Stewart "Floral Lace" border punch, brad, grosgrain ribbon

Here's the challenges:

Friday Sketchers - Sketch #100
Charisma Cardz #17 - Girly Card with Flowers
Quixotic Challenge #23 - How Distressing
Cooking It Up With Kate #16- make it for mom or a special lady, punch it up, add a brad (I usually have a hard time making all the requirements for Kate's challenge, this time I've made two cards, woohoo)
Crafty Ho's - Mother's Day and Flowers, or Mother's Day and no flowers, or flowers and no Mother's Day oh, what the heck - click on the link and go read their post, I made Mother's Day with flowers and I think that works, so there!

And since I'm making a Mother's Day card I thought I'd show off my best creation which makes me a mother not a card, although she can be a wild card. She's all dressed up for a sweet sixteen party. When she tried on that dress she was so excited, I had to buy it for her. I'm used to seeing her in her school uniform or her out of school uniform of skinny jeans and tee shirts, or pajama bottoms and tee shirts so I am thrilled to see her looking all dolled up. Now if I could just get her to brush her hair out of her face.
