PWC289 - Let It Snow

"Let It Snow!"  That's this week's challenge PWC289 at Paper Pretties.  I guess that's a good one for those of you dreaming of a white Christmas.  It looks like a lot of you just might get that wish.  Personally, that has never been my wish, not even as a child.  I just never liked being out in that cold wet stuff.  For me, I dream of a pink Christmas.  That's when you go out by the pool and forget to put on your sun block and get a little sunburn.

Here's the deets:

CIC241 - Jellypark Friends

Look at those gorgeous cupcakes!  They're perfect for an unconventional Christmas Colors at the Cupcake Inspirations challenge.  This week we're being sponsored by one of my favorite companies - Jellypark Friends.  You're thinking that I have to say something nice about the sponsor, well, that's sort of true.  I don't have to say anything at all, but I happen to love Jellypark Friends and I also happen to be on Jellypark Friends design team too, so you see, I really do love them.  If you take a stroll around my blog you can see more of my work with Jellypark images - or you can go to the lower left sidebar and use the label feature to see all the Jellypark posts.

Now I have to make a sad announcement.  This will be my last post as a member of the Cupcake Inspirations Design Team.  It's been quite a wonderful sweet and fun time for me.  I've been on the team since February 13, 2011 and this is my 126th post, that's a lot of sweetness.  I've had the pleasure of working with many wonderful teamies and we've been sponsored by many generous companies.  I've been so lucky to get to work with the images they provided.  My life has become a bit busier these days and keeping up with all the duties of a design team member has started to become difficult so it's time to step down and let someone else have some fun with the job.

don't you just hate it when you can't get the colors to come out just right on your photo?  Most of it looks OK but the background colors on the patterned paper and the blue card stocks just aren't reading right.  It makes me crazy but what's a girl to do?

Here's the deets:
stamp - Jellypark Friends "Jack Frost"
ink - printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Berrylicious", "Steel blue", "Razzleberry", "Pink Lemonade" and "Nighshift blue" card stock; Stampin' Up "whisper White" card stock; patterned paper unmarked
miscellaneous - copics; bling; Stampin' Up circle and scalloped circle punch; ek success circle punch; Jolees' snowflakes stickers

Jellypark - Midway Christmas Challenge

At Jellypark Friends we are half through our December challenge. We're taking it a little easy this month by only having one challenge.  So if you still haven't finished up all your crafting projects or cards and have to get one more Christmas thing done then when you're finished take a photo and submit it into our challenge.  Who knows maybe all your hard work will be rewarded.

My project uses Jellypark Friends Gingerbread Women digi image.  If you love gingerbread people there's a few of them loose at the Jellypark Friends shop and they are just too cute for words, but then everything at the Jellypark store is cute.  I wanted to make the "perfect" gift for a chocolate loving, gingerbread collecting, person.  It's so hard to find gingerbread women so when I found this cookie cutter, and Jellypark had a gingerwoman image, well the whole thing just came together in my head.  -I haven't met this gingerbread collector yet, but when I do I'll have the perfect gift ready, unless I get the munchies first.

If you need a quick little gift give this a try.  It's pretty quick, easy and inexpensive.  Of course there's ways to make it a little "richer".    All you need is a cookie cutter, wax paper, a cookie sheet, chocolate bits.  Cover your cookie sheet with waxed paper, set the cookie cutter on top of the waxed paper.  Melt enough chocolate to fill the cookie cutter, pour it in.  You can get it looking smoother if you take your time and  work with a spatula or you can sprinkle some sanding sugar on it, or other decoration on it.  Then put it in the fridge to set.  When it's firm, it's time to crack off the pieces that are sticking over the edges.  You decide what you want to do with them, I'm not telling what I did with mine.  Take a paper towel to wipe off the chocolate that got stuck of the edges of the cutter.  Then place it in a clear plastic bag, wrap it up and you've got a cute little gift that's good to go.  NOW, here's where you can make your gift a little bit "richer" depending on who you're giving this too.  Besides the cookie cutter you can stuff all kinds of other things inside the bag.  You can use the typical slivered crunchy paper or tissue to hold your cutter but if you have a crafty friend you could use a variety of ribbons like the ones I choose that match the colors of my tag.  A nice gift card to the local craft store tucked in with the ribbon a nice finishing touch.  Just think of all the fun things you can put in that bag...

Here's the deets:

PWC288 - White on White

White on White!  That's the challenge PWC288 this week at Paper Pretties. I love the look of white on white cards, they are so pretty, elegant and often very delicate BUT I do not like to make them so this really was a challenge for me and I have to say that I am glad that I am on the design team because it pushes me to do these challenges that I normally would just skip past.  I hope that if this isn't your cup of tea you might be inspired to sit down and make a card too.

Winter is the perfect inspiration for a white on white card.  I went hunting through my stash of Paper Pretties stamps looking for snowflakes.  I pulled out the "O Christmas Tree, Clear" stamp set which has a couple snowflakes but I ended up just using the sentiment and some other embellies which are all listed in "the deets".  I'm not sure if it's considered cheating to use silver embossing powder for the sentiment but I think that if you use white embossing powder or ink even in real life it would be virtually impossible to see, so I think you get to use a color for the sentiment.

I'm sorry my photography skills are not that great, or it just isn't that easy for anyone to make all white show that well, or both.  I played around with this photo for a long time and finally decided that this was going to be the best I can do for you so unless you're the person who receives this card this is the best version you will see of it.

Here's the deets:

CIC240 - Robyn's Fetish

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, well at the Cupcake Inspirations challenge blog. Here in sunny Florida Santa and his elves are still sunny themselves in shorts and tee shirts in 85 degree plus weather so without these little cupcakes and the visual cues I see on the Internet I keep forgetting that Christmas really is on its way.  So for this week Cupcakes Inspirations Challenge CIC240  we'd like to see some sweet Christmasy looking designs and we've got Robyn's Fetish for our sponsor. If you play along you could be the lucky winner of 5 digi images!  Wohoo!  That's a great prize.  I'm particularly partial to the primitive designs but that's not all you can find there, go check out the store and then come back, my blog will wait.

For my card I chose the adorable "bella da snowlady" image.  I won't get to see too many snow people in my neck of the woods, which is quite all right with me.  I'll admire them in photos and drawings like this one which I just adore.  It was a lot of fun to color, and by the way, this week if you aren't inspired by our cupcakes you can use our colors, red, green and gold for inspiration.  That's a pretty easy peasy challenge at this time of year.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Robyns' Fetish "bella da snowlady"

paper - Bazzill "Maraschino" card stock; My Favorite Things "Timber Green" Card Stock; October Afternoon "Make It Merry" patterned paper

SFTW - Use Some Red

Let's get this weekend started!  At Stampin' for the Weekend our new challenge is "Use Some Red".  We've got Saturated Canary as our sponsor so I'm sure you're going to want to play along for a chance to win a little shopping spree.  I know I would.

Non-traditional colors for Christmas cards is my favorite way to go but this fortnight's challenge is to "use some red" so I ended up using just about every color on my card.  I used lots of my favorite color pink and a little of another favorite aqua.  Too bad, I couldn't figure out a way to get some purple in there.  Oh well...

Here's the deets:
stamp - Saturated Canary "Nikki"
ink - printer; Ranger "Worn Lipstick", "Peeled Paint" (on flower edges)
paper - Bazzill "Ruby Slippers", "Parakeet"; My Favorite Things "Pink Lemonade";  Basic Grey "Eskimo Kisses"; My Mind's Eye "Wonderful Winter"; Stampin' Up "So Saffron"

PWC287 - Holidays

At Paper Pretties PWC287 the Holidays challenge is Beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  For any holiday you can think of, well at least for any holiday I can think of (not that crazy holiday that George on Seinfield made up) I can find a "Sophia" stamp to make a card for my friends and family.  Of course if you're not a fan of Sophia (is that possible?) there's other characters and fun images to choose from for any holiday or theme or just because.  There's rubber stamps, clear stamps and there's digi images so go on over there and get a list started and get it to your friends and family so they can do some Christmas shopping while there's still plenty of time.  In the meantime, you can make a holiday card or project that will prove useful for your use, enter it up on our blog and be in the running to win your choice of 5 digis.  You don't even have to use Paper Pretties products but if you have them we'd sure like to see them use them.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Gliding By Sophia"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper -My Favorite Things "Natural" and" "Blu Raspberry" card stock; Imaginisce "Polar Express - So Beary Merry" dsp'; Close To My Heart Silver Glitter Paper

CIC239 - Digi Darla Designs

Talk about cute!  There's rarely a cupcake that I wouldn't eat.  Well, these are the exception to my rule, I just couldn't eat these cuties, which just happen to be the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge CIC239.  The only thing cuter than these toppings are the images from our sponsor,  Digi Darla Designs .  You have to go visit Digi Darla, there are so many adorable images there you could just lose your mind trying to pick one.   By the way, if you're in a rush and don't have time to color or you aren't very good at coloring there are some pre-colored images available too.  There's something for everyone.

I love cats and dogs, my house has been a zoo for years.   So I had to pick "Digi Darla's Snowtime Scottie 9" an image that features both a cat and a dog for my card.

For the notch at the top right of the card I used circle dies placed over the edge of the paper.  A larger circle was used on the patterned paper so that card stock mat would show.  I took my time placing this die and used a tiny piece of scotch tape to hold it in place as even a slight move would be critical on this cut.

Currently the kitty that owns me is an orange tabby that's a lot tougher looking than this guy and our dog is a darker grey terrier mix (that's code for very lovable mutt).  Neither of my animals own fancy hats and scarves but when my daughter was young she used to dress the cat up.  He was quite a good sport about it.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Digi Darla Designs "Digi Darla's Snowtime Scottie 9"

Pile It On #48 - P is For...

It's time to Pile It On.  Do you know what that means?  Pile It On is the challenge blog that asks when you enter our challenge that you kick it up a notch and find as many other challenges to enter your card or project into as possible.  This week have some fun with us and our sponsor Jellypark Friends with the challenge "P is for ... "

I sure do love Jellypark Friends, I can't say enough nice things about them, and if you look around my blog you'll see that I'm on the Jellypark Design Team.  You can go to the labels on the left sidebar and click on "Jellypark".  That will bring up all of the Jellypark Friends posts that I've made and remembered to label.  If you look at the cards I think my love of Jellypark is evident.  The images are just too dang cute.

For this card I used the "Princess for a Day" digital image.  The bow is obscuring the sentiment.  If I were paying more attention I would have moved it so you could see that I took a marker and crossed out "the day" and wrote "life" over it.  That's right, I created a monster, my daughter is a princess for life and none of us had better not try to forget that.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Jellypark Friends "Princess for a Day"
ink - printer; Ranger "Tattered Rose"
paper - My Favorite Things "Rich Razzleberry" and "Blu Raspberry" card stock; October Afternoon "Sidewalk" patterned paper

PWC286 - That Was Hilarious

Greetings to all my Paper Pretties friends.  I am sorry that I do not have a funny card to share with you this week.  Unfortunately, there one of my uncles passed away at the end of last week and that put a damper on card making.  On the up side, I got to visit with family members I haven't seen in a long time, they shared stories about my uncles, many that were new to me and most of which had me laughing, a thing that would have made my uncle happy.
So, for my Paper Pretty friends, this week's challenge is to make a humorous card.  When you've finished all your cooking and shopping, go find some time to sit down and make a card and link it up for a chance to win 5 Paper Pretty digis.  Pop over to our challenge blog, from there you can link up to the rest of the design team's blogs or the store.  And who knows, maybe by the end of the week, I'll have gotten my mojo back and have a funny card to share.
That's just the kind of thing that would make Uncle Marino happy.

CIC238 - DRS Designs

Are you thinking "Starry, Starry Night" either Vincent Van Gogh, or the song about him and the painting?  Usually when Cupcake Inspirations Challenges posts its latest photo all I can think about is icing, yummy buttercream icing.  However, this week I can't get the song out of my head, or for that matter poor tormented Vincent.  What a talent that man possessed!
This week they are the inspiration for the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge CIC238 which is being sponsored by DRS Designs.  DRS is one of our regular sponsors and they always generously allow the design team to pick an image to work with for the challenge but I was asleep at the wheel as they say when I was supposed to be shopping and forgot to pick something so I am not using one of the DRS Designs image for my card.  So please make sure you hop over to DRS Designs to see some of the fun images you could win if you play along in our challenge this week.  You scroll to the label section at the bottom left side of this page and click on DRS Designs to see the cards I've made with some of their images.

If you aren't inspired by the cupcakes you can also play along with the color challenge.  I try to do both.  When you're doing the color challenge no one says you can't add a little bit extra color, okay technically you're only supposed to add a neutrals and if you have a human figure you can flesh tones and hair but here on planet Chris pink is a neutral, and here on planet Chris this card just needed that extra punch, the silver, midnight and gold is very elegant and works nicely for a professional looking Christmas card but I was going for a fun "hey, I live at the beach and there's no snow on New Year's Eve here" kind of not at all professional kind of look.  It should tick of just about everyone I know.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Impression Obsession Leigh Hannan Beach Bottle

PWC285 - Pink and Brown

This week's Paper Pretties Challenge PWC285 challenge is "Pink and Brown."   That makes this challenge fun for me for a couple reasons.  First, pink and brown is one of my favorite color combinations; second, I got to make a non-traditional color combination Christmas card.

My card uses "Bundle Up Cooper".  Now, technically Cooper is a boy but I think with this image if you color and embellish it in feminine colors, like I did, Cooper could be a girl.  I bring this up only to show that this this stamp set might be more versatile than you thought.

Stop over at the Paper Pretties Challenge blog to see what the rest of the Pretty Girls have created and to link up your card or project.  The prize is a choice of 5 digital images from the Paper Pretties store.

Here's the deets:

CIC237 - Fresh Brewed Designs

Here's a cute little pilgrim cupcake for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC237.   It's a dang cute little thing isn't it? Probably tastes good too.

This week one of our regular sponsors Fresh Brewed Designs is back.  There's lots of coffee related images there, which are my favorite, but there's plenty of other stuff there too.  The funny thing is that I don't particularly care for coffee, and I rarely drink the stuff but  most of the rest of the world's population can't start the day without it.  Works out well for me since I like to make cards and usually don't send them to myself.
My card uses Pumpkin Latte.  For this card I printed the image twice and colored the circle with the pumpkin twice.   I cut the card out and popped it up on dimensionals and then cut the second pumpkin circle out and popped that up on dimensionals also. A little thing like that doesn't take much more time or effort but it adds a pop to an otherwise clean and simple card.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Fresh Brewed Designs "Pumpkin Latte"
ink - printer
paper - My Favorite Things - "Kraft" and "Orange Fizz" card stock; Authentique "Thankful" dp

Jellypark Friends- Happy Thanksgiving/Give Thanks

Happy Weekend!  As Thanksgiving is rolling closer are you starting you're shopping list or are you actually shopping?  For me it's a blessing and a curse that my husband most of the food shopping.  The blessing is that I won't have to lug a 20 something pound turkey around, the curse is I will have to go out the day before to find the things he didn't understand or couldn't find, but how bad it that?
So - are you ready for this fortnight's Jellypark Friend's new challenge?  It's a most timely challenge, the theme is "Happy Thanksgiving/Give Thanks".  That just might help you get ready for your holiday festivities.
If you pop over to our challenge blog page (click here) you can get a gander at how some of the other design team members have used our new release "scarecrow" image.  Personally I don't think he's very scary and neither does that bird on his his arm but he sure does make a great stamp.  If you haven't gone over to the Jellypark page yet, our teamie Mel, has made a table decoration featuring the scarecrow.  The decoration is pretty dang cute and she's giving Jellypark the instructions to give to its members.  What not a member and don't have any spare cash these days.  Don't let that bother you, membership is free AND as they say comes with privledges.  WHAT!?  What privledges you ask?  You'll get a newsletter straight to your e-mail box and along with some fun bits of information about what's going on at Jellypark you'll probably receive a free digital image.  As long as I've been a member there's been a free stamp with every issue.  So if you love Jellypark and I don't know who doesn't go on and over to the store, click on the "members" bar in the menu area and sign up and you too will be a member.  Don't tell anyone about the secret handshake.

Here's the deets:

PWC284 Paper Pretties

This week the challenge PWC284 at Paper Pretties is very timely "Give Thanks".  So while you're making all you're preparations for the upcoming holidays you can get a start on your thank you cards and enter our challenge at the same time!

For my card I used "Giving Thanks Sophia".   I think this was my first Paper Pretties stamp and it's still one of my favorites.  It's a great image for paper piecing which makes for a fast card.  If you've never paper pieced it's very simple.  You stamp your image on your card stock, and you stamp it again on your patterned paper.  For this card I stamped it on blue patterned paper for the dress and then I stamped the flower portion on a tiny scrap of pink patterned paper.  Color any parts of the image that won't be covered with patterned paper.  Cut out the patterned paper pieces and glue them to the image.

Sometimes it's a little trickier than this.  Sometimes you might find that the pieces need to be layered and you'll have to do a little more work than this.  If you're new to paper piecing stick to simple figures in the beginning and once you're comfortable with the technique venture into more complicated images, you'll be surprised how easily you'll pick it up.

SFTW - Autumn - Fall Colous

Stampin' for the Weekend has issued its challenge for this fortnight and it's "Autumn/Fall Colours".  If you've visited my blog in the last couple weeks you know that I'm loving this theme.  If you haven't visited, the reason I love the fall color themes is because where I live we don't experience the changing of the seasons with glorious colors.  We get more of Hot, hotter, hot again and rain or something like that.  I'm not complaining, I'm just explaining and I love all the Palm trees, but I digress...

Our sponsor is Bugaboo Digi Stamps.  They are one of my favorite companies and I've often said that my favorite character is Stella because she cracks me up.  Well, this is my favorite Bugaboo stamp.  I love it because I can make a birthday card for anybody with it.  It works for boys and girls, men and women.  It's up to you how you want to color and embellish it.

One of the other things I love about Bugaboo stamps is that you can find funny images and not just plain old funny but sarcastic funny, birthday card mean funny - go check it out.  Bring your wallet, you'll want to buy something.

Here's the deets:

PWC283 - Fall Inspired

Happy Fall y'all!  We're getting closer to the big holidays and the decorations are starting to come out but here in Florida there's still little to mark the changes so I'm very happy to see the Fall inspired challenges like this week's Paper Pretties challenge PWC283.  This week the them the Pretties have picked is "Falling for You".  So if you're in a cooler climate get nice and cozy in your favorite sweater or fleece and settle down to make a fall inspired card or project.  If you have some Paper Pretty products we'd love to see you use them but if you don't, no worries we're happy just to have you play along.

For my card, I've used one of my favorite sets "Holiday Sweets II".  If you visit my blog you know I ain't lying.  If you haven't been here before you can scroll around and see that I've used quite a few of the cupcakes and that I have both sets, as if that needs any explanation.  And if you know me in real life you know that I love cake and icing.  I would happy living on a planet where cake and icing were the only food groups and no one ever got fat or sick from it and you just ate as much as you wanted whenever you wanted it.  Ah, the stuff of my dreams, but I digress...

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Holiday Sweets II"

CIC235 Stamp Fairy

Don't you just love the gorgeous fall colors?  I sure do, but I don't get to see the leaves change here in sunny Florida so I love to see all the beautiful fall themed cards and paper crafts around the Internet.  That makes this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC235 a very fun one for me.  It's sponsored by Stamp Fairy and that's just the icing on the cake or cupcake so to speak.  The winner of this week's challenge will receive a $10 gift certificate to spend in the Stamp Fairy shop. That's going to be fun for someone.   The design got to use some cute images and this week a couple members of the Stamp Fairy design team joined us making samples so you really must stop over to see all the creations on our blog.  Then get busy making your card or project.

My card is using the digital image Mimi Falltime.  How cute is she?  I know she's just adorable.  It's colored with copics.  The edges of the square are punched with one of my favorite Stampin' Up corner punches and the orange leaves were made with an EK Success punch.  Everything else is just straight edge cuts.  The acorn charm is from Oriental Trading.  The punches and charm are old so if you are trying to get this look dig into your embellies and you'll find something to substitute.

Here's the deets:

ink - printer
paper - My Favorite Things Safety Orange, Gumdrop Green and Orange Fizz card stock; Authentique  Collection:Thankful dsp
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up corner punch; EK Success leaf punch; twine; charm
