CIC217 - Jellypark Friends

It's time for another Cupcake Inspirations challenge.  This week we've got a pirate theme going and a great sponsor - Jellypark Friends.  In case you don't know, I'm quite partial to Jellypark images and I have the great pleasure of being a member of the design team.  I love every single image that's available from Jellypark.   I like to make girly cards, it's just my nature but the boy images are so cute that I have just as much fun and inspiration using them.  If you've got little boys then you must visit the shop, you'll fall in love too.

In keeping with the pirate themed cupcakes my card uses the pirate boy digi image.  Besides being cute he's also fun to color.  What do you see in the cupcakes?  There's six different designs, will one of the designs be what inspires you or like me, will you be inspired by the overall theme.  Whatever it is, have fun making a card and don't forget to link it up.  the sweeties are anxious to see what you create.

A Masculine Birthday

My Favorite Things recently  had a summer special so I stocked up on some card stock and picked up a couple other things including the "Inspired by Lighthouses" stamp set.  This is a set that could get a lot of use since lighthouses are great for masculine and feminine cards.  So I was able to keep two of my new year's resolutions by making this card.  I made a masculine birthday card and I inked up a new set.  And I got another old MFT sketch done.

PWC264 - Invitations

It's Paper Pretties challenge time again.  PWC264 is "Invitations".  If you visited my Paper Pretties post last week you know I did an invitation then too.  Well, I am a complete airhead and had my weeks mixed up but fortunately I saw the Paper Pretties blog post that was for summer fun.  I quickly went into edit mode and changed all the references to the challenge.  Fortunately a party is fun, so the card I made wasn't so off the wall and I could make it work for last week's challenge and I got to make another invitation for this week's challenge.

This invitation is supposed to be reminiscent of the cutesy little Valentine's day cards little girls like to give out.   I'm sure a little girl would love to give these out to her friends.
.
Making this invitation is easy.  First I stamped, colored and cut out the valentine's cupcake from the Holiday Sweets I set.  There's also a Holiday Sweets II set.  Between the two stamp sets there are eight different cupcakes from which you can choose.  Next I cut two of the largest cupcake from the Spellbinder's cupcake dies.  The patterned papers are from October Afternoon's "Cakewalk".  I traced the cut out die onto the back of the patterned paper and cut it out about a quarter of an inch from the line and then affixed it to the card stock.  The "Cakewalk" package has two of each paper.  One of the papers has four tiny invitations included on it.  I used one of those blocks for the inside.  Of course if you don't have that paper  you can make up an inside page on your computer.   Lastly I used a heart brad to hold the two pieces together.

If you're having an adult party you could use the Holidays Cheers I or Holiday Cheers II to make your invitation.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Holiday Sweets I"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Bazzill "Petunia" card stock; October Afternoon "Cakewalk" patterned paper
miscellaneous - copics; brad; Viva Glitter liner "Holo Iridescent"

CIC216 - Robyn's Fetish

Once again Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC216 has another mouth watering photo for your inspiration and we've got one of our long time friends, Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps for this week's sponsor.
Some of my favorite images from Robyn's Festish are  primitive in style but for this week's challenge I picked the English Tea Cup because of the flowers on top of the cuppies, that and I just happen to have a thing, not quite a fetish, just a thing for tea cups.

If you aren't inspired by the cupcakes you can use the featured colors like I did.  Besides using card stock in those colors the tea cup  is colored with the palest of the Copic Lavenders and the roses are multiple shades of pink with glitter.  In imitation of fancy porcelain tea cups I've lined the lip with gold glitter.  These colors are so popular you probably have several patterned papers that you can use.  So go dig them out and get busy making a card for our challenge.  The Sweeties can't wait to see what you create.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Robyn's Fetish "English Tea Cup"
ink - printer
paper -  Bazzill "Petunia", "Frosted Teal", "Intense Amythyst" and scraps of light pink card stock; Crafty Secrets "Heart Warming Vintage Collection"
miscellaneous - copics; Spellbinder's "Circle" and "Scalloped Circle" dies; lace; ribbon, Prima Rose; bling; The Cat's Pajamas "Heart Swirl" Cut Ups

MFTWSC129 - Fluttering By

I've got a few more sketches to catch up on but in the meantime I need to keep current with the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Club challenges.

For this week's sketch I used one of the Doodle Garden images.  Cute isn't it!?
The patterned papers are from October Afternoon - I especially like the photo frames.  They remind of the the booths that were around when I was a kid.  They're back in fashion now but now people rent them out for parties.  Back in the day you'd find them in amusement parks and Woolworth's stores, places like that and I think they were  $50 or a dollar for a strip of 4 photos.  I think everyone I know crammed into one of them with a couple friends.  It was a lot of fun - times were simpler, what can I say.

Here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things "DG Fluttering By"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - My Favorite Things "Berrylicious" and "Sour Apple" card stock; October Afternoon "Midway"
miscellaneous - copics; Viva Glitter Liner "Holo Iridescent"; lace ribbon; baker's twine; butterfly charm; Nailheads; MFT "Circle Stax" and "Fishtail Flags Stax" die-namics; Stampin' Up slot punch

spotlight on Thank You Teacher

This week at Jellypark Friends we're spotlighting the "Thank You Teacher" image.  So if you've made a card using this image leave a comment on the Jellypark Friends Challenge blog letting us know.  It doesn't have to be new, this is open to cards that have already been posted.

Some of the things you might not be able to notice when you look at the photo of the card is that there's faux stitching or doodling around the edge of the patterned paper and that the image is popped up on dimensionals.

PWC263 - Summer Fun

If all those cupcakes are going to be there that's my kind of party.  This week the Paper Pretties challenge PWC263 is "Summer Fun".

If you are making invitations for your child's birthday party you could have a little family fun by making them together.   There are so many cute and fun images that would work well for an invitation.  My choice is the "Crazy for Cupcakes" digi image.  I think using a digi for an invitation is good idea because you always get a good impression and you can make it any size you'd like.  You can save a little money and print it on copy paper and if you pay attention to your folds you can print your party information on it.  However you choose to make your invitation, if you're making them they are sure to be special.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Crazy for Cupcakes" digi
ink - printer
paper - Bazzill "Blosson", "Flamingo" and "Snow White" card stock; Recollections "Light Pink Dots" and "Pink Plaid" patterned paper

CIC215 - Prairie Fairy

Happy Father's Day!   Whatever you do, whoever you  celebrate I wish you a beautiful day.

In keeping with the holiday Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC215 is fishing themed.  Funny thing is that my father, brothers, and husband were/are not into fishing.  They may have gone once or twice but they were not into the sport.  Even funnier my stepdaughter, and best friend Susan love fishing and even my daughter likes to fish.  You can make your card masculine or feminine, we just want you to make a card that this photo inspires.

This week one of my favorite sponsors is back - Prairie Fairy Designs and I'm using one of my favorite images "Fishin' Gilly"  I love this girl.  When I color a Gilliam image I usually make her hair red and then I'm reminded of my friend Judy's who had gorgeous curly red hair.  Such pleasant memories.

PWC262 - Red, Yellow and Green

This week's challenge at Paper Pretties PWC262 is "Red, Yellow and Green", the primary colors.  These are a great color combination to use for cards for kids.  Or for any one who likes fun, bright colors.   As usual the prize is five digis of your choice, a good reason to play along with us.

My card uses "Return of Cluck", a fun set with a couple cute hens and lots of fun sentiments.  This hen is definitely a party animal, probably on her way to a birthday party.  Just in case she wants to use a different sentiment it's only held on by a clip.

CIC214 - Taylored Expressions

It's time for a new Cupcake Inspirations Challenge.  This week we're giving you the option to be inspired by the cupcake or to use the colors as your challenge.

I'm very excited to tell you that this week we are being sponsored by Taylored Expressions.   I just love all the cupcake stamps.  The first time I laid eyes on one of the Halloween cuppies I just had to have it.  Since then I've picked up several more cuppies and a good amount of stamps sets that are not cupcakes, but the cupcakes will always tickle my fancy.

Taylor is giving the stamp set "Sweet Friends" to the winner of this week's challenge.  It's chuck full of images and sentiments.  She also let the design team pick an image to use.  How great is that!  Very great!  The hardest thing about this was deciding which image to use.  Stop over at the Cupcake Inspirations challenge blog to see what the rest of the sweeties made with their choices.  They are a talented bunch of ladies, you're be glad you visited.  If you have a couple minutes to spare time leave them some love.   You know that we all adore reading your comments.

The image I chose is called "Sweet Bliss".  I think it looks great with the cupcake taking the place of the letter "o".  I colored the cupcake with the colors of the cupcake in the inspiration photo but I didn't add all the little dots.  I was afraid that they would just look like a hot mess and didn't want to take the chance.

When I made the die cut of the heart doily I saved some of the cut out hearts to use for decorations on the long panel.  It was really great to have a matching brad.
