PWC316 - Red, White & Blue

Happy Wednesday!  You've made it to hump day so there's a new Paper Pretties challenge PWC316 for you.  This week the challenge theme is "Red, White and Blue inspired by the Fourth of July".  If you play along and post your card or project on the Paper Pretties Challenge Blog you'll be in the draw for a chance to win 5 digis of your choice from the Paper Pretties store.

For the longest time I was not a fan of this color combo but it's growing on me and I'm liking how it looks on this card.

This card features a stamp from the "Sweets for the Sweet - EZ Mount" set.  The set contains images of several baking items including a rolling pin and mixer as well as a few sentiments.   It reminds me of Christmas and the holidays because of all the baking that gets done then.   You could use the stamps to decorate your goodie packages.  There's so many more things you can do with your stamps besides make a greeting card.  By the way if you're thinking about picking up this stamp here's a little tidbit that might give you that extra push - during the month of June all orders over $15 will include 5 yards of ribbon (our choice) free.  You can also save 20% on your order using promo code JUNE20.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Sweets for the Sweet - EZ Mount"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black and Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler
paper - Neenah Classic Crest Brilliant White card stock; Stampin' Up "Whisper White" and "Midnight Muse" card stock and DSP Patterns Pack "Regals"; Bazzill "Maraschino" card stock; October Afternoon "Modern Homemaker" pad
miscellaneous - copics; Spellbinder's "Oval", "Scalloped Oval" and "Tag Shape Three"; eyelet lace; ruffled gingham ribbon; baker's twine; apple button; red pearls

MFT Color Palette #6 Challenge

Last month I had the great pleasure of attending the second annual My Favorite Things retreat.  It was the best time.  I got to spend it with people I love being around, and doing something I love doing.  It was all about me.  I can't wait to go back next year.
Things have been busy around my house for awhile.  Hubby had knee replacement surgery in late April and one of the kids got married last weekend.  Then there's school, and dealing with kids living at home and you know all the stuff that life throws at you...well the wedding is over and hubby has recovered enough to drive but of course it's been replaced by new crazy stuff but then that's life.  Is there ever a dull moment?
With all that stuff going on I barely had time to get my DT requirements made and I've been itching to get into the box of goodies I brought home from MFT.
The new crazy includes my bestie friend having the scare of her lifetime which leaves me scared too while she awaits scheduled tests and results. So I had a reason to dig into my new stash and play along in the monthly color challenge.  I used the really cool new "Office Supplies" die-namics to make the clipboard, so much fun.  I can't wait to play with that set again.

Here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things "Get Well Wishes" and "LLD-Journal It-Take Note"
ink - Memento "Nautical Blue" ink
paper - My Favorite Things "Natural", "Sweet Tooth", "Night Shift Blue" and "Spearmint" card stock; Stampin' Up "Basic Gray" card stock
miscellaneous - My Favorite Things "Office Supplies", "Pierced Fishtail Flags", "Peek A Boo Alphabet Uppercase" die-namics; embroidery floss

Here's the challenges:
My Favorite Things Color Palette #6 - Natural, Sweet Tooth, Nightshift Blue, Spearmint
Sister Act #62 - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes

PIO #25 Kawaii/Cute

This week at Pile it On we're going cute.  The PIO Challenge #25 is Kawaii/Cute.  Our Sponsor is Oddball Art by Lizzy Love and he is generously offering the winner of the challenge three digital stamps.

The design team were given a choice from four images.  I picked the "Kawaii clouds" because I enjoy playing with mixed patterns and the clouds were just so cute.   The idea of every cloud has a silver lining occurred to me while I was coloring the clouds so I grabbed a sheet of metal paper from a Little Bit of Dazzle for the background but went for the Peacock blue side so that it would fit in with the Color Throwdown's palette for this week.  I used copics to color all the clouds in the CTD;s palette and then fuzzy cut them.  That's a technique which can be either extremely stressful or very relaxing.  I usually enjoy it and today was one of those day.  Then I cut out a pierced fishtail flag and wrote my sentiment on it and popped it up on dimensionals.  The metallic sheet was embossed with a stamping up plate and for a little more fun SU candy dots were added as well as twine and an umbrella charm.

I received some sad news this week.  A very dear friend has some health issues and will be getting tests done on Monday.  She's had a tough time of it for the past couple months and given her family history I'm afraid she's scared to death of the news she will receive after the tests.  I made this card for her figuring that no matter what the results this is going to be sent to her.   It's not too frilly and neither is my friend, she appreciates hand crafted items but she isn't into lots of embellishments so I think this will suit her.

Here's the deets:

stamp - ink - printer; fine point sharpie for sentiment paper - My Favorite Things "Primitive Cream" card stock; Bazzill "Stonehenge" card stock; Add A Little Dazzle "Perfect Peacock" Metal Sheet miscellaneous - Stampin' Up "Dots" Embossing plates and Regal Candy Dots; My Favorite Things "Pierced Fishtail Flags" die-namics; divine Twine; Umbrella charm

SFTW - Anything Goes

Here comes another weekend, wohoo!  It's always a time for fun and crafting and for the next two weeks at Stampin' for the Weekend we've made it easy for you, our challenge is "Anything Goes" and we're giving away a surprise prize.  It'll be fun.  (Sorry for the mix up if you are re-reading this, my post is edited and deletes the sponsor who was named earlier)

Today is a sad day for us at SFTW.  This is going to be our last challenge .  The challenge has been around for a long time and there are so many followers that it was a very difficult decision to make but it was time.  I'm not sure when SFTW weekend started but it was around for awhile before I joined the Design Team in January of 2011.  I've been very lucky to work with a lot of very talented and fun women who I am going to miss seeing on a regular basis.  But if there's one thing I've learned since I've started posting cards and playing in challenges, you meet the friends you've made in one place at another place.  So as sad as I am to say goodbye to SFTW, I know that this is an opportunity for someone to grow and that I will see each an everyone of my buddies again.  I want to thank Rebekah (Berrylicious), our team coordinator and artist extraordinaire, who did all the hard work and put her soul into our blog for so long.  Without her, we would have perished years ago. Thank you sweetie, I hope you bloom wherever you're planted.

We'd love to see you play in our last challenge, but please remember, just one entry and no back linking.  If you've got some time stop over at Rebekah's blog and leave her some love.  For that matter, I think everyone on the DT could use a little extra love today so if you've got some time for comments these are the gals who could really use it.

TCP Summer Release Blog Hop

Blog hops come when  Sneaky Peeks are over, the newest and fabbest stamps from the Cat's Pajamas are in the store just waiting for you to pick them up, or did you place your order last night?  I know I would have.
The blog hop is sort of a "blessing and a curse" sort of a thing.  We get to see more fabulous creation made with the new release but then it's really over.  No more sneaky peeks, no more new release, at least not for a little while.  Oh well...
If you've been hopping you should have arrived here from Cat Packer Jessie Rone's blog Can You Say Addicted to Stamps?  If you stopped by for other reasons,  you probably want to hop along so use this link for the Cat's Pajamas where you can find all the details and links. TCP - Sneaky Peeks - Aye, Eye, I

Sneaky Peeks from the Cat's Pajamas! The new release is coming and it's coming soon, in fact, it's tomorrow.  You'll be able to get your hands on all the new stamps and dies tomorrow.  In the meantime, enjoy the peeks, stop over at the Cat's Pajamas blog to find links to all the Cat Pack's samples or stop over at the Splitcoast Stampers forum and chat with the TCP fans.  We're having a hoot while we're waiting.

Wohoo!  When I opened my bag of goodies and pulled out this set of Cut Ups I literally (as opposed to figuratively) made an out loud gasp followed by "Oh my God!" and if there were any room in my craftie room I might have gotten up and done a happy dance.  This is one seriously fun set of dies which just happens to have a matching set of stamps - or you can re-arrange that to stamps with matching dies if you prefer, but for me, it was the die set that sent me over the edge.  I still get a little tipsy when I look at it.  This is just too, too much fun.  Oh and by the way, it's always nice to have a stamp set that I love that's also good for masculine cards - just saying...

Here's the deets:

TCP Sneaky Peeks

Day 5 of the Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peeks. Today's stamp set is "Vintage Summer" and it will be available on Monday, June 16th with all the other new stamps and dies.   I know you're itching to get your hands on these stamps but Monday is just three sleeps away and that just means there's three more Sneaky Peek days.

Don't forget that there's a chance to win the stamp set of the day by leaving a comment on the "In It to Win It" chat threads on Splitcoast Stampers. If you stop by Alma's (Miss Meowy, herself) you'll find the Design Teams samples and links to all of their blogs.   Of course the Cat's Pajamas are on Facebook too.  So there's lots to keep you busy till the release.   Don't forget that on Tuesday, there'll be a blog hop featuring the new products.  It'll be fun, so mark your calendar.

I've kept my card pretty much Clean and Simple because this stamp has so many sweet things going on it it and I don't want to take your eye away from it but at the same time I have to do a little something to keep it interesting.  After I embossed the blue card stock I decided where I wanted the image to appear and used the "Framed Up" die to cut out that spot.  I tied baker's twine around this layer and added a charm to it.  Next I used dimensional tape to pop up the embossed layer and at that was when I decided I didn't want to add anything else to the card.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas "Vintage Summer"
ink - My Favorite Things "Black Licorice"
paper - Bazzill "Snow White" card stock; My Favorite Things "Berrylicious" card stock; Stampin' Up "Pistachio Pudding" card stock
miscellaneous - the Cat's Pajamas "Framed Up" Cut Up; Cuttlebug embossing folder; green Divine Twine; sun charm

Here's the challenges:

Crafty Ribbons #93 - Anything goes with Ribbon

Moving Along with the Time - Keep It Clean and Simple
Southern Girls - Punches and Die Cuts

Thanks for stopping by, come back again.

TCP Sneaky Peek - Simple Blooms

It's Day three of the Cat's Pajama's Sneaky Peeks. Today's stamp set is not one of the usual suspects, I mean fun characters that we love so much. Today Alma's given us a lovely and sophisticated set of flower silhouettes, "Simple Blooms".   There are four different flowers silhouettes, a branch of leaves, four sentiments and a banner sentiment.  Phew!  Lots to work with in this set.

This set is part of the new Cat's Pajama release which is going to be available on June 16.  To keep you busy while you wait  hop over to Miss Meowy's (Alma, our fearless leaser) blog Eat, Play, Stamp to see what the Cat Pack (her fabulous design team) has created with the new stamps and dies.  Also stop over at Splitcoast Stampers TCP Forum and leave a comment on the In It To Win It chats for a chance to win a stamp set.

As soon as I saw these flowers I thought that they could be used to make a gift card set.  I usually don't make CAS (clean and simple) cards but I thought these stamps would make a statement on their own.   Oddly, it probably too me as much time to figure out the card even though there isn't that much to think out.
The photo's lighting isn't the best, the paper and the ink is Stampin' Up Crisp Cantaloupe so imagine that the actual cards are a little pinker looking.

Once you know what you are going to do these cards are really fast to make so if you need a quick gift you can make these in short time.  Besides the stamping on the top layer I've used a retired Stampin' Up corner punch which gives the card a little something extra, it's one of my favorite embellishments.

This cards would look good in any color, so if you are making them as a gift if you know the recipient's favorite color that would make the gift that much sweeter.  To make a really special gift wrap them up in a silk scarf and tie a pretty bow around them.  OR, if your friends are of a different persuasion put them in a little sack and tie them around the neck of a bottle of wine - that would be the ultimate hostess gift for my friends.

I am having the greatest time playing along with the Cat Pack.  I can't thank Alma enough for this opportunity.   I hope you're enjoying the sneaks and that you'll be back again tomorrow.

There will be peeks up to and including Monday when the stamps are available.  On Tuesday there will be a follow up blog hop.  That's going to be so much fun so don't miss any of the fun, stop by the Cat's Pajamas everyday for the latest news and to see the peek of the day.

Oh, The Cat's Pajamas is on Facebook too.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas "Simple Blooms"

PWC314 - Invitations

It's time for the new Paper Pretties challenge.  This week the challenge PWC314 is "Invitations."   You can make any kind of invitation you'd like - a birthday party, a bridal shower, a book club meeting or even a girl's night out, which is what I chose to do.  The Holiday Cheers I stamp set is perfect for a simple invitation. There's a couple sentiments that would work for an invitation, one of which I have used here.  This set is just a fun set, it has four different cocktails.  Besides this stamp there is a St. Patrick's Day, an Easter and a Valentine's cocktail.  By the way, with a little creativity you can tweak the shamrocks on the St. Patrick's cocktail into flowers and use them throughout the year. You can mask the Egg in the Easter cocktail and use that anytime too.  With a little thought you can get a lot more use out of this set.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Holiday Cheers I - Clear"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper -copics X-press Blending card stock;  Stampin' Up "Blushing Bride" and "Coastal Cabana"  card stock; Simple Stories "Vintage Bliss" and "Snap" dsp pads

TCP Sneaky Peeks Day One

TCP - Strange and Wonderful
It's here!  Sneaky Peeks at the Cat's Pajamas new release. It's so exciting to be able to show you the newest stamps and dies that will be for sale in just a few more days.  I know that every TCP lover is sitting on the edge of their chair waiting to get their hands on them.  It's just about a week away, Monday,June 16  is release day and in the meantime you will be treated to peeks everyday.  Check out our fearless leader Miss Meowy's blog for all the info you need and links to all the Cat Pack's blogs.

The Penguins are a favorite character among Cat fans.  They often appear in threes so I'm not sure if this is Larry, Larry or Darryl but he sure is cute surrounded by all those flowers.  If you're like me you've had trouble getting a good impression of the penguins.  Well, I discovered that when I put a foam pad under my paper I got a perfect impression.  That one little step made a major difference in the quality of my stamped images.  I hope that tip helps you too.  If you still have problem spots they should be small enough for a touch up with a blender pen.

Today's also the start of a new challenge at the Cat's Pajamas.  The new challenge TCPTUES268 is a color challenge "Kraft, Rose and Vanilla".  Now that's a combination that I adore so it was easy to pull this card together and I'm sure you'll have no problem getting a card or project put together, hey you've got two weeks, so join the fun and maybe you'll win some cat cash.

Besides the new stamp set I've used the new "Petal Posies" Cut Up on this card.  It's yummy isn't it.  I've also used some of my all time favorite TCP products which you will find on lots of my cards.  I love "Divine Twine" and ever since the Cat's Pajamas started carrying it I've been addicted, it's on almost all of my cards.  I don't think I could live without it.  Then there's two of my favorite Cut Ups - the "Toppers" and the "Chevron" Cut Ups.  So much fun on one little card...

Here's the deets:
ink - My Favorite Things "Black Licorice" for image and "Kraft" for sentiment; Memento "Angel Pink" for sponging on edges
paper - Copics X-press blending card stock;  My Favorite Things "Kraft", "Insulation Pink" and  "Lemon Drop" card stock; Bazzill "Buttercream" card stock; My Mind's Eye Lost and Found "Market Street" dsp pad
miscellaneous - copics; the Cat's Pajamas dies "Petal Posies",   "Toppers" and "Chevron" Cut Ups; Pink Divine Twine; Spellbinder's Oval dies; sun charm; Close To My Heart Bitty Sparkles

Jellypark Friends - Sporty Challenge

Are you ready for a new Jellypark Friends challenge?  Well you better be because it's time for a "Sporty" challenge.
I like to think of baking as a sport, mostly because I'm not very co-ordinated, but I don't think that's what my teamies had in mind when they came up with this theme so I pulled out the skating bears.  They look so much more graceful then I will ever be on ice and I've got the scars and bruises to prove it.  But I digress...
You don't have to play sports to stamp off or print out a sporty image so get out your supplies and make a card or project and play along with us.  We can't wait to see your projects.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Jellypark Friends "Skating Polar Bears"
ink - printer
paper - Close To My Heart "My Reflections - Frosted" pack;  My Favorite Things "Timber Green" card stock
miscellaneous - copics; My Favorite Things "Chevron Stripes", "Oval Stax", "Tree Lines" and "Snowflake Doily" die-namics; bling; twine; snowflake charm

Here's the challenges:
Jellypark Friends - Sporty
4 Crafty Chicks 4cc#197 - Christmas
Creative Knockouts #140 - Die Cut/Punch Frenzy
Crimbo Crackers #66 - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by, come back again.

SFTW - Anything Goes

It's Friday, yeah!  And for lots of you the weather has finally started to warm up and there's lots of fun things to do.  Well, in my neck of the woods it's pretty warm most of the year but now it's rainy so I just may be in the house over the weekend, but I don't mind because I've got plenty of stamping to do.  So if you're stuck in the house over at Stampin' for the Weekend we've got the perfect challenge for you.  The theme this week is "Anything Goes".   So make whatever you need to make, it can be birthday, Father's Day, retirement, sympathy, whatever you feel like making we will be happy to see. BUT we've got two big rules - You can only enter one item and you have to stamp (or use a digi) on your card or project.  We've also got the usual rule of no back linking.  But you can enter as many other challenges as you like.  This fortnight we're sponsored by Paper Nest Dolls.

Here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things "Cowboy at Heart"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"; My Favorite Things "Steel Grey" for sentiment
paper - Stampin' Up "Basic Gray" card stock; My Favorite Things "Lemon Drop" card stock; October Afternoon "Sasparilla" patterned paper pad
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up neutrals candy dots; My Favorite Things Blueprints 13 die-namics

Here's the challenges:
Stampin' for the Weekend - Anything Goes

PWC313 Hip To Be Square

It's Wednesday, so it's time for Paper Pretties to host a new challenge.  This week we're making it very easy for you, the theme is "It's Hip To Be Square". So you can make any kind of card or project that you'd like to make.  It can be for a boy or girl, or even for an animal.  We're not fussy.  You don't even have to use Paper Pretties stamps or digis to play with us, but if you have them we'd sure like to see them.  If you're the winner of the challenge you'll get to pick five digis from the shop.  So after you've finished browsing around the internet go dig out your supplies and make a square card to post on our challenge.  I can't wait to see it!

My card uses one of my favorite Sophia stamps, "Under the Sea, Sophia".  Mermaids are just fun, just look at Sophia's hair, don't you love those pearls and the shells that are in it.  The three wave borders are popped up on dimensionals and the Sophia image is fussy cut and also popped up with her tail sticking under and over the bottom most wave.  Although it doesn't show well in the photo there are stickles applied to her hair, tail and shells as well as some liquid pearls on the pearls and in real life those little touches really punch up the card.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Under the Sea, Sophia"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - Bazzill "Glow" card stock; My Favorite Things "Steel Blue" card stock; K & Co "Daydream" dsp pad
miscellaneous - copics; stickles; baker's twine; mermaid charm; pearls; Creative Memories corner punch; the Cat's Pajamas "wave" border die Cut Ups

Here's the challenges:
